Trace Horse Recording Studio - FAQ’s & Rates

Q: What is your day rate?

A: Our day rates are $850 with an engineer, $600 with no engineer. All sessions include an assistant engineer.

Q: How long is a day? Can I load in early?

A: A full day session has a 10am load-in and goes no later than 8pm. Creating rough mixes/bounces/back-ups, etc. are expected to be done within the 10am-8pm work day. This work day scheduling allows us to provide ALL of our clients with consistently high quality recording services - 7 days a week.

Q: Can I bring my own engineer or producer?

A: Yes! Outside engineers and producers are welcome. All sessions include an assistant engineer who will help as needed.

Q: Do you offer half days or hourly rates?

A: To ensure the highest quality services to our clients, we only provide full day sessions at this time.

Q: Can I use Trace Horse’s drum kit, guitars, amps, and keyboards?

A: Yes! Our entire collection of gear, microphones, instruments, and amps is available for your use during your session.

Q: Should I have the piano tuned before my session?

A: We strongly encourage you to have the piano tuned for your session, and we can often have the piano tuned on the same day of your session. Seale Keyworks in Franklin regularly tunes our piano, and the fee to have the piano tuned is $115. This is an additional charge to your session rate.

Q: Do you have space for cartage?

A: We have limited available space for empty cases, pedal bags, amps, etc., but we do not have the space to accommodate large amounts of cartage.

Q: How many musicians can comfortably record at the same time?

A: Trace Horse consists of our control room, a main tracking room, a connected ISO booth, and a keyboard room that houses our Yamaha U3 piano and Hammond organ. We routinely track 4 to 5 musicians at a time.

Q: How do I book a day? Do you require a deposit?

A: Please fill out our contact form or email booking@tracehorse.com to request session dates. We will hold your requested date for 24 hours, and we require a 50% deposit to officially book your session.

Q: I had something come up! Can I change my booked date?

A: You can reschedule or cancel your session with at least 14 days notice. Sessions cancelled within 14 days of the original scheduled session date forfeit the deposit.
